Tuesday Inspiration

I am trying to stay inspired. Since running the Galveston Half Marathon 2 1/2 weeks ago, I have run about 12 miles. Total.There is nearly 5 feet of snow outside, and the snowbanks are nearly twice as high. The temperature on Mt. Washington yesterday was the second coldest place on Earth.  Even though the Wallis Sands Half Marathon is 12 weeks away, I am having a hard time getting motivated.


I struggle with doing too much, being too busy, and If you ask anyone, I hate “down time.” But I hate wasted time even more. My coach and personal trainer has instilled in me the Principal of Specificity:

Principles of Specificity states that in order to achieve any specific goal, we need to do things that are specific to that goal.

I like to have specific goals to work on, and I have to remember that my goal right now is Half Marathon recovery.  Whenever I feel the need to get back on track I turn to My Fitness Pal AppThe app integrates with Runkeeper, my Tomtom My SPorts GPS watch, and many other activity tracking apps and devices.

So here is what I’m going to do to stay inspired for the next two weeks: 

CROSS TRAIN- yoga once a week at my favorite studio, easy snowshoeing with my new LL Beane snowshoes, and  weight training at the new No Finish Line Endurance Resource Center.


SLEEP- getting an average of 8 hours sleep (Myfitnesspal.com can help track sleep, too!)

NUTRITION- Eating more protein to help with muscle repair, 5-8 servings of fruits and vegetables daily, and cutting back on sugar.
