My goals are my goals

finishI like things to be neat and tidy, and when my life is messy and things aren’t clear and the path is twisty and bumpy, I need to find a way to make sense of it all. I need to go through this sometimes messy, lengthy, uncomfortable ¬†process myself. I need to make things tidy again-for myself.

Of course there are always others that get dragged along with me-caught in my undertow, family, friends, co-workers, and coaches. Everyone has an opinion, an idea, and advice. They each have their own experiences and stories to share; and in many ways, they are supportive and are trying to prevent me from making mistakes.

But in the end, the lessons I learn are my lessons to be learned. My goals are my own. If I choose to wander down a different path-and most likely I will-I will learn from that. If I choose to disrupt the status quo-I will accept the consequences.Right now I am still trying to figure it out. I am not comfortable with some of my fitness goals because they are causing me to think about what I really hope to accomplish. I am stuck on specific and measureable.
